Apple & Whiskey Delight with Cinnamon Stick ππ₯πΏ

Yesterday, I tried a special Apple + Whiskey combination and was amazed by the response! ππ₯ Many friends said they loved it, some had questions, and quite a few asked for the recipe. Since the comment section is limited in space, I decided to turn it into a full blog post to share the thought process behind this drink.
This idea was inspired by a classic cocktailβthe Apple Martini. I plan to fully demonstrate that one in my next video. If thereβs enough interest and comments, Iβll share the recipe there π. For now, letβs focus on this more everyday, at-home friendly Apple + Whiskey pairing.
π Apple Preparation
Slice the apple into 3β4 pieces, then reassemble it into a whole apple. This looks the most visually appealing. Place a small piece of ice between each slice, then reassemble and freeze. When you take it out, it still looks like a whole apple, but the cut surfaces release more aromaβelegant and special.
This method has two benefits:
1οΈβ£ Cutting the apple releases more aroma.
2οΈβ£ Frozen apple naturally chills the whiskey, no need for extra ice, keeping the flavor intact.
π₯ Choosing the Whiskey
To make this pairing work, the most important rule is: avoid heavily peated (smoky) whiskies. The strong peat flavor can overpower the appleβs fruitiness, creating a conflicting taste.
Recommended fruity, smooth options include:
π The Glenlivet NΓ durra First Fill Selection (used in the video)
π Macallan
π Chivas Regal 12 Years (my personal favorite, full of fruitiness, pairs well with almost any fruit)
π Glenmorangie
Higher alcohol content is preferred. It helps bring out the appleβs aroma and sweetness, giving a refreshing and layered taste. At first, the apple flavor may seem mild because itβs still melting; as the temperature rises, the fruitiness becomes more pronounced.
π₯ Special Touch: Light Smoke & Cinnamon Stick
I added a subtle touchβlightly smoke the drink with a small amount of applewood chips for about 5 seconds. This doesnβt cover the apple aroma, but acts like a βflavor filter,β giving a sweet, roasted apple skin note. The light smoke adds depth, keeping it fresh and slightly woody without being bitter.
Additionally, I prepared a cinnamon stick and placed it in the glass. The cinnamon blends beautifully with the apple and whiskey, giving every sip a gentle sweet-spicy aroma that complements the fruitiness. πΏ Its mild spiciness balances the sweetness, creating a well-rounded and layered flavor experience.
Even with a busy life, donβt forget to take a little time for yourself. Pour a glass of your favorite whiskey, open a book, and slow down. This drink, with its fruitiness, subtle smoke, and cinnamon aroma, might just be the most comforting moment of your day. π―οΈ
